NEW DELHI: Businessman Robert Vadra on Wednesday appeared before Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning on the second day in a row in connection with Haryana land deal case. Calling the development "very unfortunate," Vadra claimed he had become the "voice of people" and criticised the government for misusing central agencies .
“It is very unfortunate. I feel people don’t believe in the agencies anymore because everyone in the country has realised that the ED and other agencies are being misused to put pressure on those who expose the government’s wrongdoings. The government is trying to create a divide between Hindus and Muslims. All of this is done to distract from the real issues,” he said as he arrived for questioning by ED.
“They can see I have become the voice of the people. I’m almost like an activist now. This happened because I respond to the government and continue to fight back against the constant false accusations made against me. The people are with me; I serve them. People would like to see me in politics,” he added.
On Wednesday's questioning, Vadra said he was "too strong for all this."
In a Facebook post, he wrote, "I'm here for any kind of unjust pressure. I believe in the truth, and truth will prevail." He also alleged that his charitable activities during his birthday week had been disrupted. In a veiled criticism of the government, he said, "Nothing is going to deter me from fulfilling people's wishes and needs." He added that he would continue helping people unless stopped from speaking out against "injustice" towards minorities.
Meanwhile, outside the ED office, Congress supporters raised slogans such as, "Jab jab Modi darta hai, ED ko aage karta hai," accusing the Modi government of misusing the agency to silence opposition voices.
