A video from Yadgir railway station in Karnataka has gone viral after it captured a ticket clerk engaged in a phone call while ignoring a long line of waiting passengers.
The clerk’s apparent indifference to the agitation of the queue waiting in line has drawn criticism both at the station and across social media platforms.
The video shows the clerk casually speaking on his phone while passengers stood waiting. Despite repeated appeals, he seemingly ignores the long queue of passengers while continuing his conversation on the phone.
At one point, a frustrated commuter confronts him, questioning the delay, to which the clerk replies, “just one minute,” prompting the commuter to say that the “one minute” has stretched to nearly 15 minutes.
Responding to the post, one user commented, “How did he even qualify for this job?”
“This is done to create panic at the counter when the train arrives. These people take this opporunity to loot Rs 10- 20 from each passenger. I have witnessed this many times at many places. Now even with this video proof , nothing will happen to this guy,” said another user.
“Very bad attitude and behaviour during business hours.. Outside more than 10 people are in the queue but this gentleman is having fun over the phone,” another comment read.
Following the backlash from social media, officials from the Guntakal railway division confirmed that the staff has been suspended.
“Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted, staff has been suspended and major disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the staff,” they said through a post on X.
