Political commentator and journalist Megyn Kelly offered a critical take on former President Donald Trump ’s recent rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City. She claimed that the rally's male-dominated speaker lineup could risk alienating female voters—a demographic Trump is struggling to secure for his 2024 campaign.
The rally that was held in one of New York’s most iconic venues, drew widespread criticism for a speaker roster that included high-profile male figures such as Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk , Sen. JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr., Robert F. Kennedy Jr., WWE star Hulk Hogan, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and comedian Tony Hinchcliffe.
Commenting on the rally, Kelly said, “I’m telling you, even for me—and I voted for Donald Trump last week—the MSG rally was too bro-tastic, okay?”
Kelly did not held back during her analysis she highlighted that, at a time when Trump’s campaign is losing ground with female voters, a different approach might have been more effective. “You’re trying to win an election where you’re hemorrhaging female voters,” Kelly said.
“When you’re presenting in front of thousands at Madison Square Garden, you might want to tone down the ‘bro talk’ to avoid alienating women in middle America who are already on the fence about Republicans,” she added.
Kelly also questioned the campaign’s internal dynamics, the apparent lack of female advisers with influence over the event's tone and speaker selection. “Is there no actual woman behind the scenes shaping the lineup?” she asked.
Kelly suggested that the campaign should be more strategic and appealing particularly to women, rather than simply mobilising its existing male base. “This isn’t a bar or a living room; this is a campaign.”
Kelly’s critique comes alongside remarks from former President Barack Obama , who was in Philadelphia campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris . Obama condemned Trump’s rally for promoting “racist, sexist, bigoted stereotypes.”
