A 9-year-old Canadian girl was reportedly missing as a victim of a possible abduction in New York's Lake George hours before her body was found in Ticonderoga. Police arrested her father as he told the police that his daughter was abducted while police found no indication of abduction.

New York State Police said they received a call from a man who said his nine-year-old daughter was missing, possibly due to an abduction. The call was received Saturday just before 10 pm ET. The investigation started as that of an abduction, with the cops working on the statement of the father but as the case progressed, officers found out glaring inconsistencies in the father's accounts of the events and the timeline.
The State Police issued an Amber Alert, a bulletin for a missing or endangered child, and warned that “the child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm and/or death.”
Police said with the help of several local agencies, Melina was found dead on Sunday in Ticonderoga, about 50 kilometres east of Lake George near the New York-Vermont border.
Police said there is no indication of an abduction.
