Twiggs, 22, who the female relative confirmed is transitioning to female, later moved in with grandparents before securing an apartment in St. George, Utah. “His father thought he wasn’t being respectful and was problematic, so they kicked him out. He then lived with his grandparents until he was 18 and graduated from high school,” she told Fox News Digital.
The woman added that Twiggs had long struggled with drug and alcohol use, gaming addiction, and questions about gender identity. “But the real reason he was acting out was because he was using drugs and alcohol, and was addicted to gaming,” she said.
Twiggs was the first to move into the townhome, the relative said, and Robinson joined him last year after other college roommates left. “He was maintaining a job and able to pay rent, and was technically an adult. The other college roommates eventually all moved out, and he stayed and Tyler became his roommate,” she explained.
Robinson, also 22, is accused of assassinating conservative activist Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, on September 10 at Utah Valley University in Orem. Kirk was hospitalised in critical condition after the shooting and later died.
Robinson now faces charges including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, felony discharge of a firearm, witness tampering, and committing a violent offense in the presence of a child.
