Mr Beast says Trump tariffs make it cheaper to make his chocolates outside US

Donald Trump's tariffs are all for Make America Great Again, YouTuber Mr Beast Tuesday revealed that for him now it is wat cheaper to make his chocolate bars outside America because "other countries don't have a 20%+ tariff on our cogs". He said it's ironic but he prayed for fair trade and said he feels that for small businesses, the tariffs could be a nail in the coffin.

"Btw we pay our farmers a living income, use fair trade certified beans, etc. so I was already spending a lot on cocoa. A random price hike was pretty brutal ngl. We’ll figure it out. I feel for small businesses though. Could really be a nail in the coffin for them," Mr Beast said.

Mr Beast whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson is the highest-earning content creator in the world. Riding on his social media popularity, he has ventured into multiple businesses, including his chocolate brands. According to Bloomberg, his chocolate brand which was launched in 2022 generated about $250 million in sales and more than $20 million in profit last year. His company manufactures its products in both the US and Peru.

Many businesspeople spoke out against the tariffs as markets remained down for three days after the tariffs were announced and is set to brace for more volatility as the tariffs are to be implemented from tonight. The White House said Trump will go ahead with the tariffs though he's open to talks and asked his team to frame 'tailor-made' agreements with each country that are reaching out to Trump for tariff negotiation. About 70 countries have approached the Trump administration, the White House confirmed. Beijing will face a 104 per cent tariff taking into account 20 per cent, 34 per cent and 50 per cent tariffs.

"President Trump has a spine of steel and he will not break, and America will not break under his leadership. He is guided by a firm belief that America must be able to produce essential goods for our own people and export them to the rest of the world," White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said. "A strong America cannot be solely dependent on foreign countries for our food, medicines, and critical minerals, and America must always maintain a robust defense supply chain."
