The NHC warned that locally heavy rainfall could impact the Turks and Caicos Islands and the southeastern Bahamas later on Saturday, spreading to eastern Cuba by Sunday.

In a post on X, the NHC stated, "A special advisory has been issued upgrading #Oscar to a #hurricane with sustained winds of 80 mph with an updated intensity forecast. Hurricane Warnings are now in effect for the Turks and Caicos Islands & the Southeast Bahamas."

The NHC characterised the storm as "tiny" and warned of potential heavy rain and wind impacts in the region.
