Udupi: As part of the global promotion of Indian Sanatana culture, a Krishna idol has been prepared for installation at the Puthige Matha in Dallas, USA, under the guidance of Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji, the current pontiff of Paryaya Sri Puthige Matha.
The idol, sculpted by Teertharaj and his team from Kaduru, was handed over to Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji during a ceremony held at the Geetha Mandir of Sri Krishna Matha on July 4. Along with the idol of Lord Krishna, the idol of Mukhyaprana Devaru was also handed over. The Swamiji welcomed the deity with an aarti and blessed the sculptors with prasadam.
The event was attended by Diwan Nagarajacharya and Secretary Ratish Tantri. The international secretary of the Matha, Prasanna Acharya, welcomed the gathering, and Vadiraj Bhat Kukkehalli, the chief priest of the Dallas Matha, expressed his gratitude.
Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji is expected to officially consecrate the idol in the intended temple in Dallas after the completion of his current Paryaya tenure. Until then, the idol will be placed at the Geetha Mandir in Udupi.
It is worth recalling that during the previous Paryaya, Sri Pejawar Swamiji had welcomed the idol of Lord Krishna installed by Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji at the New Jersey branch of the Matha.
