Mumbai: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable Dhodiram Yadav, arrested on Thursday for ramming his official vehicle into an autorickshaw while under the influence of alcohol, will be placed under suspension. A woman died and three others were injured in the crash. CISF officials confirmed if a staffer is under detention for more than 48 hours, he is automatically suspended. Yadav has been remanded to police custody for two days by a magistrate court. The CISF reached out to Vanrai police to collect details of the case registered by them against Yadav.
Early Thursday, Hazra Shaikh, 50, her two daughters, Shaheen, 20, and Shirin, 17, and her grandson, Shifan, were returning to Jogeshwari in an auto after visiting a relative at Marol when the CISF SUV, steered by Yadav, rammed into them. Hazra lost her life, while her daughters and the auto driver were injured. Police said the CISF vehicle was moving on the south-bound arm of the Western Express Highway (WEH) at Goregaon East when Yadav lost control. The vehicle jumped the divider and hit the auto on the north-bound arm of the WEH. Yadav allegedly tried to hide but passing motorists caught him and roughed him up before handing him over to the Vanrai police.tnn
