The 2% increase in Dearness Allowance will benefit over 18,000 employees and pensioners, effective from January 2025.
DA Hike for Power Sector Employees AnnouncedThe Vishnu Dev Sai-led government in Chhattisgarh has officially announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees of the state electricity department, raising it from 53% to 55%. This decision is expected to benefit approximately 18,000 current employees and a large number of retired pensioners associated with the department.
Effective from January, Paid in InstallmentsAs per the official update, the revised DA will be effective from January 1, 2025. However, the payment will commence with April’s salary, with arrears for January, February, and March being distributed in three monthly installments — April, May, and June 2025. This staggered payment structure aims to ease the financial flow while providing consistent monetary relief to employees.
Full Arrears for Retiring EmployeesIn a significant move to support employees nearing retirement, the government has confirmed that employees retiring between April and June 2025 will receive the entire DA arrears as a lump sum in the month of their retirement. This ensures timely financial support for those transitioning out of service.
Boost to Financial Stability Amid InflationThe decision comes as a welcome relief amid rising inflation, offering state electricity department employees an enhanced income buffer. Employees and pensioners have widely appreciated the government’s move, citing it as a timely financial boost that will aid in managing monthly household expenses and inflationary pressures.
