Varanasi: A two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) was organised by the International Rice Research Institute - South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC), in collaboration with the Water Resources Group (WRG) 2030, the World Bank, and the Coca-Cola Foundation. The programme concluded on Friday.
The programme was organised for progressive farmers from 15 districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh (UP) under the UP Accelerator Program. This initiative aimed to equip farmers with advanced knowledge and practical skills to enhance rice cultivation practices in Uttar Pradesh.
The training brought together agricultural experts, policymakers, and progressive farmers to discuss the adoption of DSR - a sustainable rice cultivation method that reduces water usage and labour requirements, enhances productivity, and ensures sustainable farming practices.
The event was inaugurated by Ravinder, principal ecretary, Govt of UP, who emphasised the significance of DSR in transforming rice cultivation. tnn
